Pamela Murray

Pamela Murray has been praised by the Boston Globe for having a "naturally beautiful lyric voice." Her solo oratorio credits include Bach's Magnificat conducted by Seiji Ozawa, Bach's St. Matthew Passion and Handel's Samson and Solomon with Emmanuel Music, Handel's Messiah, Faure's Requiem, Mozart's Requiem, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Britten's Ceremony of Carols, Schubert's Mass in G and Mass in Eb, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Vaughan Williams' Dona Nobis Pacem, Purcell's Come ye Sons of Art, Monteverdi 1610 Vespers, Stravinsky's Mass, Vivaldi's Gloria, Carissimi's Jepthe, and Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle. Ms. Murray has appeared as soloist in Handel's Dixit Dominus with the Handel and Haydn Society under the direction of Christopher Hogwood, a touring program which included Chicago's Orchestra Hall and Avery Fisher Hall in New York. She also appeared at Lincoln Center as part of the Great Performers series. In addition, she is a frequent soloist with the Emmanuel Music Bach Cantata series. She is Artist in Residence with Foundling in Rhode Island.
As a founding member of Favella Lyrica, a Boston-based trio specializing in early baroque vocal chamber music, she has received national critical acclaim for recordings on the KOCH International label. Recent operatic roles include Female Chorus in Britten's The Rape of Lucretia, Mrs. Gross in The Turn of the Screw, and Cathleen in Riders to the Sea by Vaughan Williams, all with Prism Opera.
Ms. Murray is also on the voice faculty at Emerson College, Tufts University, and the American Repertory Theater. She has recorded for KOCH and Dorian.
